The Collection
The Scribble collection consists of six Hand-Tufted rugs hand-tufted in India from 100% New Zealand wool.
Process is a fundamental part of my work. My drawings leave a trace beyond that of the work itself; dirty pages, the ritual of sharpening the pencils and cleaning the tips, colour tests and a myriad of processes that, once the work is finished, no longer have any reason to exist.
The final work gets the glory, is admired, while the process is forgotten.
This collection honours the creative process that speaks to us of error, failure, effort, energy and perseverance.
The scribble, the protagonist of this collection, materialises as a symbol of this process.
These forms are what, in pictorial language, best exemplify the attempt and the will to achieve something. The how takes precedence over the what.
